A middle-aged resident of Kestopur faced a shocking incident when his bag containing gold and cash was snatched while he was returning home in an e-rickshaw after withdrawing valuables from a bank locker. The robbery occurred near the Dignatika footbridge when a snatcher on a scooty struck and fled the scene. The victim promptly filed a written complaint at Bidhannagar East Police Station, prompting an investigation by Bidhannagar Detective Department (DD) and local officers.
The absence of CCTV cameras on the road initially posed challenges for the investigation. However, police meticulously analyzed CCTV footage from surrounding areas over time, which eventually led to identifying and arresting the suspect, Pratap Roy. According to police sources, the accused has been taken into custody and was presented in Bidhannagar Court today.
